This four night exclusive safari with “Bucket List” golf is an optional extra to be combined with our FANCOURT holiday.
Lukimbi is one of only seven private concessions within the Kruger National Park and at 15,000 hectares is one of the largest.
Guests are treated in a highly personal way as numbers are limited at any one time to enjoy exclusive tours as vehicles are permitted to traverse off road in a highly controlled manner.
As a result visitors are treated to frequent sightings of endangered rhino as well as the “Big Five” roaming in their natural habitat.
Staying in the exclusive lodges within the park gives you the only opportunity to play the No.2 ranked golf course in South Africa, the breathtaking Leopard Creek Golf Club.

LUKIMBI SAFARI LODGE
It took two years to build the lodge, using natural materials to blend subtly into the surroundings. Every room and living space is designed around the view, while latticed ceilings filter the sun’s dappled light, casting ambient shifting shadows as the sun moves across the sky. Bright and richly textured natural fabrics, bold furniture chosen for comfort encourage proper relaxation where you are invited to make yourself completely at home.
The pool area is a place of serenity, right on the bank of the Lwakahle River. It includes multi-levelled relaxation decks, with a pool overlooking the river.
Each of the 14 Classic Suites occupies its own elevated position overlooking the bush and has been designed to magnify the view. Private shaded decks, cathedral style windows, floor to ceiling glass in front of great stone bathtubs and open outdoor showers promise ample opportunity to fully appreciate and be one with the wilderness.
Safaris leave in the morning, just before sunrise and return in time for breakfast and in the late afternoon departing before sunset to return in time for dinner. No more than seven people are allocated to an open shaded vehicle which means every guest has a window seat!
The appreciation of fine food and wine is very much part of the Lukimbi experience. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner are all included with a few treats and surprises along the way.
A comprehensive selection of delicious meals are cooked by the chef using fresh, seasonal and healthy locally sourced ingredients.
Dining at Lukimbi is not just about eating and drinking, it is also about the atmosphere with every sitting varying in location from the dining room, upper and lower deck and the traditional African Boma.
Lukimbi is proud of its wine collection, having over 100 wonderful South African wines to choose from, many of which have won awards from around the world.
LEOPARD CREEK GOLF CLUB
Leopard Creek, one of only two South African courses in the World Top 100, symbolises the beauty and grandeur of African bushveld golf while at the same time evoking an exclusiveness comparable to Augusta National.
The property occupies a singularly unique site in golf, bordering the broad Crocodile River on the southern boundary of the vast Kruger National Park, and it is this remote location that has captivated television viewers around the globe while watching the annual hosting of the Alfred Dunhill Championship on the European Tour. There is as much interest in the wildlife shown on their screens as on the golf itself.
Leopard Creek is a private club, many of whose members enjoy the privilege of having lodges on the estate. The entrance is at the Malelane bridge into the Kruger Park, and anyone passing by hoping to catch a glimpse of the course will be disappointed. It is several kilometres from the entrance to the clubhouse through the bushveld. The clubhouse is one of the most impressive in South Africa, a striking double-storey thatch-roofed building blending in perfectly with the natural surroundings. It has views over the course on one side and the river on the other.
The holes at Leopard Creek have a wonderful flow to them, the design challenges varying all the time. What appears initially to be a relatively flat course suddenly presents surprise changes in elevation. Water is a hazard on eight holes, and the gently sloping greens are a visible strength of the course’s defense. The 13th is justifiably one of the world’s best holes, its green sitting high above the bank of Crocodile River, offering a dramatic vista of the park.
Gary Player, the course architect has commented “Leopard Creek is surrounded by bushveld. The fact that you could be playing while hearing a hippopotamus snort or seeing a lion near the fence is unique, as is the pitch shot you might hit over a lake full of crocodiles.”
