Description

Once owned by Sean Connery, Terre Blanche now belongs to an art loving German tycoon whose eye-dropping private collection of world class sculptures by the likes of Niki de Saint-Phalle, Jean Miro and Anthony Gormley grace the property and grounds. From the soporific landscaping to the scented lavender beds, Terre Blanche’s conjuring trick is to convince you that this is not a resort but a laid back country club that has taken root in Provence. Fashioned in the style of a Provencal hillside village where each of the suites enjoy bucolic views across rolling rural countryside.

The accommodation is about space and serenity, enhanced by terracotta tiles, natural limestone and light oak furniture. Separate living room and large private terraces are standard with the most spacious marble bathrooms and walk-in showers. Guests benefit from access to the outdoor infinity pool with stunning panoramic views over the hillside villages of Pays de Fayence, as well as unlimited use of the Terre Blanche Spa. Housed in a two level villa you feel a sense of grandeur from the moment you step inside, marble columns soar to the ceiling surrounding the enormous indoor pool always heated to 28c and fourteen treatment rooms.

There are four restaurants to choose from with the Michelin star “Le Faventia” at the heart of Terre Blanche’s gastronomy. Managing to be laid back yet sophisticated, offering panoramic views over the villages and hills of the Pays de Fayence with chef Christophe Schmitt showcasing the cuisine and produce of the local area. “Le Gaudina” creates a warm and inviting ambience with all the charm of a stylish brasserie where you can enjoy dinner or brunch with a menu that offers elegant Mediterranean fare. “Les Caroubiers is the clubhouse restaurant with magnificent views of the 18th of “Le Riou” course or if you prefer enjoy a relaxed lunch in “Le Tousco”. Situated next to the infinity pool, this is the hotel’s summer restaurant serving salads, tasty grills, wild fish and shellfish.

For six years (2016-2022) Terre Blanche was voted the “Best Golf Resort in Continental Europe” by Golf World (UK). A ranking made up of a panel of experts from the golf and travel industry as well as journalists. This is mainly due to the two outstanding “Dave Thomas” designed layouts. Opened in 2004 he skillfully capitalized on the existing contours and natural features with his trademark jagged-edge bunkers featuring on both courses.

“Le Chateau” enables’ players to experience the true playing conditions of a championship course. It stands out for it’s spectacular water features and each September hosts “The French Riviera Masters” the only senior European Tour championship in France. It ranks No.12 in Continental Europe by Golf World.

Whilst “Le Chateau” is the layout that rides high in the rankings, “Le Riou” is considered to be equally enjoyable. Shorter than its sibling, but no less challenging with tree-lined fairways laid out in higher reaches of the landscape it rewards strategy and precision. The course is open only to its members and hotel guests and every year hosts “The Terre Blanche Open” on the Ladies European Tour. If this was not enough, the golf academy is arguably one of the best, boasting European Institute Status and housing a “Biomecaswing Centre” the only one of its kind in Europe.

If you wish to take a day away from the resort, swish Cannes is only 30 minutes away. Closer to home its a scenic 10 minute drive to Fayence market and a little more to boating on St. Cassien Lake. The local villages such as Tourettes and Callian perched on cliff edges have delightful restaurants and shops and in Grasse which is famous for perfume, it is possible to create your own scent.
