Description

Surrounding the hotel are two wonderful golf courses, the original Kernow & the Nicklaus, the first European course personally designed by the legendary golfer. The course opened to rave reviews with Nicklaus himself being quoted ” I knew it was going to be good but not this good”. It was certainly good enough to host the B & H International Open with Olazabal, Langer and Ballesteros amongst the winners. The course has 18 outstanding holes and measures just over 6,200 yards so even for the higher handicapper or shorter hitter is a pleasure to play. Nicklaus even created his own version of Amen Corner with the 10th, 11th & 12th holes a real highlight of an extra-ordinary golf course.

Opened in 1976 The Old Course, as it was then called, quickly became a must play course and by 1979 was included amongst the elite by its inclusion on the European Tour with the hosting of the Benson & Hedges International Open. This was followed by two further tournaments as it played host to the Tournament Players Championship, which included a win for Bernhard Langer in 1983. Entirely renovated as part of St. Mellion’s extensive 2008 redevelopment, the Kernow Course has developed into a very popular golf course with Members & Visitors alike and a perfect foil for the world class Nicklaus Course. With its wide fairways and big greens the course has gain a popular following and in a recent survey was included in the Top 5 “2nd Courses” in the UK’s best 36-hole golf courses.

The St Mellion International Resort’s hotel is situated conveniently next to the clubhouse, and provides extremely comfortable hospitality. The spacious air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms are decorated in a fine contemporary manner, and are fitted with excellent modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The resort has an indoor leisure complex with three swimming pools plus an indulgent Spa (including Elemis treatments) and health club.

Modern, air-conditioned bedrooms offer free WiFi, flat screen TV and king size beds. Within easy reach are the coastal towns of Polperro and Looe and the world famous Eden Project.

There are a number of dining options from a la carte to brasserie including ‘An Boesti’ the hotel’s Cornish restaurant, which boasts two AA rosettes and serves a locally sourced menu with views over the 18th hole of the Nicklaus Course.
